Dr John Pikoulas
John is a principal architect and hands-on engineer with more than twenty years designing and running systems where reliability, security and governance are not optional.
His work spans real-time data platforms, lakehouses and warehouses, enterprise integration, cloud-native and Kubernetes platforms, and DevSecOps. More recently he has focused on AI-augmented engineering: bringing agents, retrieval and tools like Claude Code into how teams actually build. He also designs and builds connected devices and apps, from circuit boards to Wear OS.
He has worked across UK Tier 1 banking, FCA-regulated fintech, national retail, a global consumer brand and the UK public sector. Organisations include Tesco Bank, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Sainsbury’s, Compare the Market, Dr Martens and Registers of Scotland.

How we work
- Hands-on: architecture you can run, not just slides.
- Measured: decisions backed by evidence, from benchmarks to bench tests.
- Governed by default: security, privacy and auditability designed in, not bolted on.
- Plain English: clear recommendations for technical and non-technical people alike.
